Signals of a genuinely remote-first company
- No central office, or the office is optional and used by only a minority of the team.
- Processes are documented thoroughly and in writing (an internal wiki, Notion, Confluence) rather than relying on informal hallway conversations.
- Asynchronous communication is the default: few mandatory meetings, decisions made in writing.
- The team is genuinely spread across multiple time zones, not just "remote within the same city."
- Regular in-person retreats (quarterly or annual) to make up for the lack of daily face-to-face contact.
