A video interview gets judged on two layers at once — what you say, and whether the call itself runs smoothly. Both matter.
Technical checklist (the day before)
- Test the exact platform they'll use (not a different one) at the same time of day, ideally on the same connection.
- Frame the camera at eye level, with a light source in front of you, not behind.
- Close every other app and tab that could trigger a notification sound mid-interview.
- Have a backup plan (phone hotspot) ready in case your main connection drops.
Content checklist
- Prepare 2-3 concrete examples of async work and written communication, not just general experience.
- Have specific questions ready about how the team actually works day to day, not just about the role on paper.
